UNTO DUST 1
UNTO DUST is an ongoing series of sculptures all based on a simple clay model of a solitary man lost in thought. A mould was made from the clay man, then further figures produced by electroforming copper. This is a process I started experimenting with over the UK’s first lockdown. It was developed in the 19th century originally used to produce printing plates. Elements of the process were manipulated to produce a range of colours and textures in the metal, and each body is subtly adjusted to reflect shifts in attitude and emotion. The resulting works will form a collection of sculptures that are closely related, but each one is unique.
